Rosa Lopez in her studio
Artist statement

Motion, colour & the memory of places

Raised in Santiago de Chile in a family of ten siblings, Rosa Lopez moved to Sydney in 2012. Her work is shaped by urban rhythm, family history, colour and the layered experience of living between two cultures.

Using acrylic and Chinese ink on cotton paper or canvas, she builds structural compositions that balance movement, line and colour — always searching for what lies between figuration and abstraction.

About

Rosa Lopez

Raised in Santiago de Chile in a family of ten siblings, Rosa Lopez moved to Australia in 2012. Inspired by her past and everyday life — colour, movement, landscape and the human figure — her art is an impression of feelings and technical expertise.

Motion, urban scenarios, linear and architectural compositions have taken her attention enormously. The artist tends to make structural compositions focusing on balance, movement and colour.
